Three men have been sentenced to a combined total of more than 15 years in prison after a detailed Metropolitan Police investigation into a smash and grab robbery at a jewellery store in Richmond.
The incident took place in Paved Court, Richmond, when offenders smashed a shop window with a sledgehammer and stole jewellery worth approximately £225,000. Following the robbery, specialist officers launched an immediate investigation, carrying out extensive CCTV enquiries, forensic analysis and vehicle recovery work.
Thanks to this thorough investigation, officers identified and arrested all three suspects at addresses in Essex within weeks of the offence. They have now been sentenced at Kingston Crown Court:
✅ Deniz Mehmet (28) – jailed for 5 years
Detective Superintendent Dan Mitchell of the Met’s Flying Squad said:
This result highlights the Met's ongoing commitment to protecting local businesses, supporting victims and bringing offenders to justice. It also comes as new figures show neighbourhood crime across London continues to fall, with significant reductions recorded in thefts, robberies and vehicle crime over the last year.
A great outcome for Richmond's businesses and residents, demonstrating that those who target our communities will be identified, arrested and held accountable.
